Description:
A Valentine's Day Vigil, honoring victims and survivors of dating violence in our community.
Throughout the day an information table with local and national resources for teens, parents, community members and professionals will be stationed along the Free Speech Wall. We will chalk a mural highlighting February as dating violence awareness and prevention month. At the table, we'll be collecting old cell phones to be repurposed as E991 phones for victims of violence, and holding a heart shaped lollipop sale to generate funds for our local domestic violence shelter and emerging group called TADA (teens against dating abuse) From 5:30- 6:30, we'll have a brief opening presentation with representatives from the local university women's center, a city counselor and the director of our domestic violence shelter. We'll then make a silent vigil walk down the main street of the mall in honor of local victims and survivors of dating violence.
